Birthday Surprise!

So...my birthday is tomorrow and yesterday I got an early surprise from my cousin's cousin. (You catch that? Eh, let's just call her my cousin.) Anyway she brought me over the most beautiful little cake EVER!

*WARNING* It is quite unfortunate, but I am not wearing any makeup and have not done my hair in anyway in the upcoming pictures. You have been warned.

First off I was greeted by this...

SO pretty!

That made my day!

After that we went to my cousin's basketball game and went to Geneva on the Lake. I can officially say I have been!

All and all, a pretty good day!
Have a good day loves!

First Ever Link Up!

So today I am going to do my first ever link up!

Is it normal to lie about your age?

Sure, but thankfully I don't have to yet! ;-)

Is it normal to have mistaken someone for the opposite sex?

Seriously, have you seen some people?!?! Totally normal.

Is it normal to go #2 in a public restroom?

If you are the only one in there. When you gotta go, you gotta go!

Is it normal to sit RIGHT NEXT TO a stranger at the movie theater?

In one where there are tons of other seats? It is not normal. There is an unspoken norm to leave some room.

Is it normal to lie about your weight?

Exaggerate? Yes.
Lie? No.
Cause you should never lie... ;-)

Is it normal to sing and dance in the car?

Yes!! And anyone who thinks that it is not normal needs to loosen up! Have some fun!!

Is it normal to take self-pictures in public?

Doing a whole photo shoot can get kinda weird, but I think one or two is normal. It is better than no pictures!

Is it normal for women to have a gun license?

Heck yeah! Why wouldn't it be?

Is it normal to post pictures online of yourself in a bikini?

Um....part of me says no because it is much more than people want to see online, but I don't judge. If you got it, flaunt it!!

Is it normal to like the smell of gasoline?

No, that is the sickest thing for me.

That was fun! See ya guys later!

So far so busy for a trip to Ohio! I don't even know where to start now that I am finally posting. Here is a random recaps of the trip with most pics being super crappy off my phone.

I have loved hanging out with my cousin Grace and I have done lots of baking, Cake Boss watching, and Uno playing.
No ones birthday, but candles seemed festive! ;-)

I watched her brothers play in their baseball game. They won!! Then we went to get ice cream to celebrate. The best way to celebrate in my humble opinion...

No pics of the ice cream of course...I am too fast eating it to take a picture.

Forgive me, I just got done working out so I look like hell

I woke up with one of my migraines Thursday morning {so not fun}.

Friday and Saturday I got to see a lot of friends and family.

Saturday night my cousins, uncle and I camped. We got to do some fishing and shooting. It was the first time my youngest cousin had been camping. Took a while to convince her to pee...

Got one to bite my first try! He was small so we let him go back.

There is one thing that I am really hoping to do while I am here in Ohio...
I wanna watch it RAIN.

I cannot remember the last time I saw rain.

My Ohio family thinks it is hot here at 85 degrees...whereas in Tucson it is 111. I love the cool weather!

Life's little black and white clouds...

My grandma passed away yesterday.
She is loved and missed dearly.

Grandma with newborn me

Mom and I are on our way to Ohio together tonight on the red eye. She came to Tucson with me to catch a flight out of Phoenix--it is the only airport in the west with a direct flight to Cleveland. Hopefully the direct flight helps my mom since she has been having this unexplained and really bad vertigo.

We will fly back the 30th so posts may be sporadic during that time.

I did have a good weekend with Kevin's family. Great seeing everyone and a lovely day in the mountains spreading Kevin's grandpa's ashes. He was a great man who made amazing peanut butter sandwiches. His secret was that he used a lot of real butter. (Thank God I never tried them cause sounds like I would have been hooked...)

Here are some random camera phone photos from the weekend.

But to happier news, my sister's tennis team who won state a month ago made the newspaper!

Ellie is the pretty one in the white shirt.

I got to spend father's day with my dad and I love both of my dad's soooo much. Here are my letters to them.

Dear Dad,

I will always remember you teaching me to ride a bike and go looking at rocks when I was young. Thank you for cheering for me at swim meets (even though it was hotter than hell in those pools). Thank you for teaching me to drive that old Ford F-150…and then thank you for getting rid of it. Thank you for always being there.

Now as an adult, I still have so many things to thank you for. Thank you for passing on your cooking experimentation on to me. There is nothing that I love more when I visit home is eating your cooking. Thank you accepting Kevin as your son. It makes me so happy that the two of you enjoy hanging out together and your speech at our wedding will always be in my heart. Thank you for showing my what a family is and always putting family first.

You are a man of few words, but I have never doubted how much you love me. You don't dish out "I love yous" everyday, so I know that when you say it, you really mean it. When you speak, I know I need to listen (most of the time)!

Though I may be married and living 4 hours away, I will always be your little girl.
I love you so much, Dad!

Dear Dave,
Thank you for being so accepting of me since the day I came around in 2005. You are always a kind and caring man. You are also always very patient and responsible--great qualities that you have passed on to your son. Both you and my dad have shown me what it takes to be a husband and a father and I shot the moon with Kevin. Thank you for allowing me to travel with your family and see parts of the country I never dreamed I would see so soon.

Love you!

Prayers Please

My heart is heavy right now as my grandma is in the hospital after a stroke. After this stroke there was a bad turn of events. The site of the mild stroke began bleeding.

Her DNR was signed yesterday and they are keeping her comfortable.
She lives in Ohio so she is across the country.

She is an amazing woman. She was a surgical nurse in her day and pinned me in my nursing graduation. (oops, don't have those pictures on this computer)

I am so happy that she was able to see me marry Kevin.

My grandma, Me, and my Mom's hands
Three generations

My next post will be after the weekend is over. I am heading to northern New Mexico this weekend to see Kevin's mom's side of the family. Kevin's grandpa passed away a couple of weeks ago. It was peaceful and in his sleep. We will be spreading his ashes together in the Jemez mountains where he took his family camping often.

So prayers please for my family.

In happier news...I did officially take my husband's last name yesterday. :-D

So for my first ever blog post I have decided to do quite a long post, but it will help you get to know me (haha assuming if you are reading this blog you wanna know me). I have been a reader of blogs for quite some time and have decided to get into the community myself. My favorite thing about the blogs that I read is that I feel like I know them and that we could be bff’s! So hopefully for my first week of blogging, you feel like you get to know me.

Do you guys remember those chain e-mails from middle school where you filled in the answers to a long list of questions? I will imitate that here for you all!

Name: Lauren :-)

College Attended: New Mexico State University. Majored in Nursing.

Sisters: I have two younger sisters. Tess is 2 ½ years younger than me. She is amazingly smart, funny, and pretty. I think as she gets older we will grow closer. Ellie is 7 years younger than me and super beautiful, charming, and nice. I love joking around with her and watching her play tennis. Actually both my sisters are super talented tennis players!

Sports: Like I said above I have two talented sisters in tennis. Did I play tennis? Depends on how loose your definition of play is. My sport was swimming. I decided to stop swimming when I went to college to focus on school. I do wish that I kept up swimming more.

First Crush: The earliest I remember was Max something or other in 3rd grade and Marshall something or other in 5th grade.

Name a favorite of each-food, drink, and color: Does chocolate count? Kevin calls me a picky eater…I say selective. Drink…water. I have never had a carbonated beverage in my life. Yes you read that right. For color, I would say pink!

Name a least favorite of each-food, drink and color: Anything seafood. For drink anything carbonated-coke, beer, champagne…I guess of drinks that I actually have tried my least favorite would be just regular milk. My least favorite color is probably red.

If you married rich and your spouse gave you $100,000 a week, what would you spend it on: That would be so exciting! I would start with my dream home.

What kind of underwear do you prefer wearing: I don’t own any other underwear besides VS.

What are five things you have to have in your dream house: Well awesome question because that is what I am spending my riches on! I would have to have my amazing husband, a big kitchen, a lovely master suite, smart house stuff (that is for the hubby…the TVs, surround sound, programming stuffs…), and a huge closet. *note that is included in the master suite, but the closet is the most important part of the house! ;-)

Ski or Snowboard: Ski! I love Vail, CO.

Favorite Sport: Football and swimming

Favorite sport teams: I could go on and on with this question. I am sure every Sunday of football season there will be major posts. I am a fan of all sport teams Denver and Cleveland (yes even the Browns) I also have major love for The Ohio State University everything. Why? My family is from Ohio, Kevin’s family is from Colorado.

Woah…that was a lot. Thanks for getting to the bottom of this post!! I am excited to start my blogging journey and hope you enjoy following me!
