What I Love About Marriage

So this weekend Kevin and I spent a low-key weekend alone. It was so nice!

First we went to our first Tucson Padres game with some of his co-workers. We lost, but it was a good game!

Other than that we:
Cleaned some of the house
Finished our thank you notes
and the best part was our Saturday date night.

Our first ever date was seeing Batman Begins and going to Coldstone. We replicated that by going to see The Dark Knight Rises and going to Coldstone.

With that, here I are the things I love so far about being married:

1. Starting and ending the days together. I absolutely love these times together - getting to talk about the day that we're going to have, and the day that we just had. Confiding in one another, sharing emotions and struggles, talking and dreaming about the plans of the future. It is special.

2. Being alone. We now have a place to just hang out together, enjoying each other's company, and it's just a feeling of FINALLY!

3. Getting ready. Learning how to share a closet and a bathroom with Kevin was not as hard as I thought it would be! I need to add on a bit of time to the amount I need to get ready, because we always end up getting distracted or playing around instead of doing whatever we need to be doing. {get your mind out of the gutter} It's hard to put on make up when I am laughing at his crazy antics. Plus it is always super cute that Kevin will lie on the bed playing games on his phone while I am getting ready and then realize I am almost ready and have to last minute scramble to get himself ready. tee hee.

4. Meals together. As I have explained in previous posts, I am loving learning to cook for us, and it is so fun to sit down and share meals together. I feel so relaxed and enjoy it so much, even when we're just eating and not saying anything. I love being his assistant on weekends when we make breakfast together. These are some of my favorite times of the day.

5. Growing closer. It's amazing how close we've become since the wedding! I never knew it was possible. When we're with a group of people, we can make eye contact and know exactly what each other is thinking about whatever is going on at that moment. And then later we discuss it. Ahhh it's so much fun.

These are just 5 things out of the endless amount of blessings that have already come out of {almost} two months of marriage. I never want to take these things for granted, even when we've been married for 30 years. I want to make lists like this forever!

  1. I love these things too! Wonderful words Lauren.

  2. Haha I could not relate more to #3 and the iphone game playing husband scrambling to get ready haha happens all the time around here! ;)
Great post girl! I agree 100%

  3. Cute! I love all these things too. It's so nice being married and not having to go home to a different house at the end of the night. But you are right... everything takes so much longer with a husband. They poke you and tease you and interrupt you when you are trying get stuff done around the house for sure!
