I am such a hot blogger...not!

So I have been looking at bloggers that have 1,000 followers actually making money off this hobby and I have to admit, dang. That would be cool! I could have some chocolate money! Or shopping money! Or money to pay my cable bill. Have you seen how high those things get?! Dang!

Anyway, these bloggers post perfect magazine-esque pictures of them doing things such as casually playing in the snow:

Or pictures that are super cute and kid oriented:

Or shopping/doing outfit posts:

But currently if I were to post pictures like that, they would look like this:

Me playing in the snow:

Me and my baby:

Me trying to pull off an outfit:

Big difference huh!

So I have to start posting more better photos of me doing cute stuff and I need a dog so that the pics can overload you all with cuteness (because a kid isn't coming soon). As for food, I am not the greatest cook, and when I am, I have a hard time posing my food...because it is already in my belly. And my “fashion” is work attire. So get ready for me to dazzle the crap out of you with scrubs, scrubs, and "no I don't want no scrubs" (yeah I did just sing that song in my head).

The other thing is that I don't know how to do my make up or hair and never have time to attempt to craft.

Where are the pictures of these beautiful girls without makeup and without their hair done lying on the couch with a bag of Reese's cups? On a couch that is a hand me down from your in-laws. No? Just me? And where do these girls get the time to get so done up all the time? Do their kids never cry, do their bosses (in my case crazy patients) never keep them at work late? Do they not have husbands (which are kinda like kids) Only kidding Kevin...if you ever read this. Yeah I am so popular that my own husband probably will never read this. I’m a blogger. My life is so cool.

Anyone with me?

  1. hahaha! I actually think your outfit picture is cute! A couple weeks ago I posted my take on the phenomenon of outfit pictures in the snow--it is pretty silly to freeze for the sake of a few pictures when you think about it. I like pretty pictures of me and my family as well as the next person, but the pictures my four year old point and shoot camera takes are just as good for keeping the memories!
And, for the record, nearly all of my furniture is hand me downs. :)

  2. I'm with ya! my pictures would look pretty much the same as yours.. snowmobile, a shotgun, and definitely lots of looking like a bum on the couch haha

  3. Yes! I have no clue how they do it. On the rare occassions that I do get dressed up and ask John to take my picture, it always looks ridiculous!

  4. Well said! Haha. Like I ever do my hair. Yesterday was the first time in a month! By the way, I LOVE that dress in your last photo! xoxo

  5. haha,
don't worry Lauren. i'm not all that at all. mostly it's just my scattered thoughts being put on my blog. and praise Merlin's beard if i ever post an outfit picture. not gonna happen

  6. I'm right there with you! I never do my hair, my make-up is minimal, and I started taking pics for a recipe post, but I ate the food before I could take a picture of the finished product. I'm the epitome of lame...

  7. I'm with you!!!!! I like your pics SOOO much better! I am going to honest and say I cannot figure out HOW some of these blogs get so many followers just by posting pictures of themselves all dressed up. I don't get it. I dont dress fashionably, don't know how to properly do my hair or makeup, and I'm not constantly posing. And I intend to keep it that way! I'm with you!!'

  8. This post was great! You're pictures are way better. Because when I look at them I think, "This girl is real. This is a girl I could be friends with in real life." Honestly, the posing and the so called perfection that I sometimes see on other blogs makes me feel intimidated. Like, "Oh she's totally unapproachable and clearly way to cool for me." Way to be real! :)

    I'm with you!

  10. P.S. just in case you don't catch it on my page - I live on the northwest side of Tucson. - Marana-ish.

And you can see my mug on The Morning Blend on Tuesday talking all about the Bachelor! It's on KGUN between 11-12.

What side of town are you?

    1. you should become a reply blogger so that we can email back and forth. I wrote about being a no reply blogger here: http://www.lifelovelauren.com/2012/08/blog-lessons.html

I live Marana too! Just moved up here actually. Awesome! I saw it on your FB (I am not a creeper I promise! haha)

  13. Hahaha I agree 100%. I envy those people but I am completely unphotogenic and hate having my picture taken... But it would be nice to make some money off of a hobby haha.

  14. Hahaha ugh i know, it's totally intimidating. I live in the suburbs and not like New York so none of my backdrops are ever interesting, and I really don't have that many pose options. Grr it's a hard life haha. I DO like your idea of posing with a bag of reeses on couches, however....

  15. I'm with you! My pictures are just plain jane pictures. I've tried to take cute pictures of myself and I just look stupid! Maybe it's not the picture, maybe it's me. Don't worry...I have a post on my calendar for February (yes I'm an OCD planner) about my comfy clothes.

  16. With ya! I am covered in spit-up 98% of the time. LOL.

  17. Haha so true. I have a measly 9 followers, wooo! Sometimes I get a tinge of jealousy and want to be awesome and interesting. Then I remember I'm blogging for myself and some friends and family who live far away (however it would be really cool). I'm not so sure about paying for blog stuff? I haven't quite figured that out yet. I don't know anyone in real life to teach me these things so I'm learning as I go. I'm terrible at taking pictures, I wish I could cook like a gourmet chef, I'd love to be a craft queen, and I wish I was a model. Haha. We are all just normal girls, living normal every day lives. I love reading your blog!!! :)

  18. You just explained how I feel about outfit posts... I fail miserably at every attempt. I have some pictures from where I tried, but yeah lets be honest they are pitiful!
    Thanks for making my night!

  20. Your comment about not blogging pictures of your food, because it's already in your belly, had me laughing. I love to cook, but I sometimes forget to take pictures of our meal before we dig in... so I always miss a good food photo because it's half gone by the time I remember. :)

Life isn't perfect... so it is a little odd to see people portray such perfect lives. I've been trying to spend less time looking at blogs like that and more time reading "real" blogs.

  21. I am so with you on this. I can't pull off any of those magazine-esque pictures.. I feel too awkward trying to pose for them any way. :D

  22. this post seriously made me LOL and made me love you THAT much more! Seriously though...I was stoked about making money on my blog and I just ended up taking sponsorship opportunities down because it was taking up so much time....those sponsors get demanding I tell ya! lol. I love your pictures. I did a post about people posting things from a life they "want" vs their "real life" - it's mostly the girls that watch too many housewives shows expecting to be all Hollywood-ish...glad there's more girls like you around :) favorite post yet my friend!

  23. Thank you for the laugh! I would prefer to look at your REAL life pictures any day over the perfection that is some of those pictures. That's what is great about blogging though is that everyone is SO different. I've yet to post a perfect picture of me doing anything. haha

  25. The ones that get me are of bedside tables looking all pristine and pretentious. My bedside table usually has snotty tissues, old glasses of water and a lot of dust! Your writing makes me laugh :-)

  28. AGREE AGREE AGREE!!! I am not a big fan of those "my life is so awesome and nothing bad ever happens" bloggers. Or the ones that try and convince you that they really DO wake up in the morning, looking that good and just so happened "to throw something on"

  29. Love this post. Haha. My pictures would look the same don't worry! :)
