Low Carb

Before the wedding, I lost a little bit of weight and felt great in my wedding dress and in my own skin! I did low carb! Very little chocolate, no fruits, no nuts, no breads, no pasta, no starchy veggies, no bread, and no tortillas!

I also ran and was at a great weight for me.

Now I have gained weight. Lots of it. I need to get rid of it.

The idea of this restrictive diet for another few months sounds about as fun playing high five with a cactus. Plus it is harder because I have Kevin in my house and he needs carbs. It's a lot easier to not cheat when your choices in the fridge is tea, a cheese stick, lettuce, or a chicken breast. No one ever craves lettuce at 9:30 at night, I promise.

Clearly I have gained this weight by having little self control. I need to fix this.



  1. i gained weight in the year after we got married too...i blamed it on living with a boy who always wanted chips in the pantry, among other things. i think that being my intern year had something to do with it too!

  2. I am trying to drops some lbs I have gained since the wedding as well. It's hard work!

  3. Low carb is not that effective of a diet. Trust me. The weight usually comes back.

    The best thing you can do is count calories. I'm serious. Some people think that sounds psycho, but when I did it I realized I was eating wayyyy more calories than I needed to. Plus, by managing your calories, you can still eat things you like, just in moderation. It's A LOT easier than cutting out carbs. I was on about a 1500 calorie diet when I did it. I did Jillian Michaels 3ish times a week. I lost about 10-12 pounds in 6 weeks (I was chubby from the holidays).

    It works!

  4. It happens to all of us after our weddings! Weddings are the best motivation ever! I think just eating right...eating more fruits and veggies before filling up on meat & carbs is the best thing to do. You eat less of the bad stuff when you are full of the good stuff! :)

  5. I was at my lowest for our wedding in 2011 and needless to say I'm not there anymore and I have a goal to get back there for our Mexico trip in July. Haven't figured out how exactly I'm going to do that but we'll see what happens!

  6. Aw. Don't beat yourself up over it. I've heard that many women gain weight after they get married. I gained a little weight after my husband and I started dating because I was trying to keep up with his beer drinking! LOL. Just cut back a little, get some exercise, and drink loads of water and you'll be fine. :)
