The Paper Gift

**Update: All the open whens are can be found here!**

Kevin and I had our first wedding anniversary at the end of May.
I plan to do a recap on that next week, but I wanted to share my paper gift to Kevin!

I wanted to do something special, out of the box. Something that said "hey I thought about this and didn't just buy you a piece of paper."
I wrote him twelve letters (one letter per month of our first year) on really nice stationary.

And yes two of the envelopes were brown because I ran out of blue.
Way to plan Lauren...

As a spin, paper is the traditional gift, but there is also a list of modern gifts. The modern gift for year one is clocks. I decided that the "open when" on each of them symbolizes a time and thereby being my spin off of the clock gift.

Up next, cotton and china! Wish me luck! :-)

  4. Oh, what a twist that you included an element of time into your gift. So far I've been just following the traditional gifts, but one of these years, I might switch things up if the modern gift looks like more fun!

  26. Lindsay Brimmer, I have to say, what to say is so had to do. My boyfriend has a daughter and I want to do the same thing for her. I think it would not be only cool for a husband, but a kid, for every year tell they graduate. And give them to them on graduation day. For example, when you are missing home, when you want to know how much I love you, when you need to know how successful you are, when you want to give up, all sorts of ideas, I think examples for your spouse is dependent upon who they are, I think ideas for a spouse would be: when you need to know that I will always be there for you... just all sorts of ideas, its just hard to come up with them on the spot, that's why when one comes to my head I write it down

  29. Hi Lauren,
    I love this idea
in terms of an idea for cotton and china i have had one that i would like to share with you?
You could buy Kevin a plain cotton handkerchief and using fabric paints or ink (or embroidery) you can put his initials on it in chinese calligraphy - decorate it with a bonsai tree (more masculine)
Or a pair of butterfies ( they represent love, specifically young love, happy social life for the young, undying bond between lovers, represents yang energy of yin - yang, embroidered on clothing it strengthens the energy of love)
If you could reply with your thoughts i would like that :)
    Your creativity inspires me xx

  30. I think this would be a great gift to give to a son or daughter gong away to college and they always need a bit of reminder of the love that is waiting at home, in God or just need that boost of confidence. Could be a great graduation gift.
