Not a Zumba Girl

As I alluded to here, I am very much trying to get my fitness on and create a new lifestyle for myself. One in which I am happier with myself and my body.


I, like most girls, have tried many different ways to exercise. One of them that I have done occasionally to shake up my exercise routine since college is Zumba.

I have finally stopped trying Zumba. Why you ask? Because I really, really am terrible at it.
Reasons being:

1. I have NO coordination whatsoever. This is mostly to blame on being an ex-swimmer. For those of you who don't know, swimmers are the kids who got thrown in the pool because we sucked at normal sports like soccer.   
2. Rhythm. What rhythm? I gave up dance years ago. I got kicked out of ballet class and can only dance like Beyonce after a cocktail. 
3I'm short (and awkward). I really wish I women with short torsos looked great shaking it. 
4. I can't shake what my mama gave me...because she gave me none. I got that flat booty.
5. I am better at other things. It's true. I should be home on Pinterest or at happy hour. 
6. I'm still short (and scared). I don't want to be in the front where people behind me can tap me worried that I am having a seizure. So I put myself in the back corner. And since I am short I can never see the instructor. This means I had absolutely no idea what was going on. None. 

I also think that there are way better ways to exercise out there. Most of the time I was getting more exercise to my neck, craning to see what the moves were, then actually exercising.

Are you bad at Zumba? Is there any exercise methods that you don't partake in?

  1. I love Zumba! Not all classes are the same, so you have to find an instructor who works for you. Once you learn the routines, the neck craning stops :P But I get what you mean. I go to a class on Thursdays and some of her dances are beyond my comprehension, so I just jump up and down... as long as I'm moving, I'm getting a work out, right?

  2. I have never even attempted Zumba just because I know I will be bad at it :) I just go to the gym and run on the treadmill!

  3. Happy Birthday, Lilly! I am so Lilly obsessed. :) I am HORRIBLE at Zumba which is why I do the videos in the privacy of my own home. I love doing the workouts, but I'd rather not worry about having people laugh at me as I trip over my own feet. :)
