Olympics

So some of you may not know that I was a competitive swimmer in high school. I decided last minute to defer my college swim scholarships to stay local and major in nursing. {both wouldn't have worked} Every time I see the Olympics, I miss swimming. I still need to find a decent pool here so that I can try and get back into swimming {and order some new suits}

I still remember my last race. It was a 400 freestyle relay and the State Championships. I went first on the relay {my start was really good, so I went first in free relays} and went a 58.9 something.

This was short course and anyone who is a swimmer, yeah it is not the fastest time, but I was not a good 100 freestyler and that was a personal best time for me.

So with that knowledge I started writing a post about Olympic swimmers and I realized there was just too many exciting things to write about. So I will sum up my opinions about them very quickly here:

Men's Team
You guys have hard rock abs!

Women's Team
You are all beautiful, fast, and seem down to earth--LOVE it!!

But I do want to cover one thing about the Olympics overall...

FASHION.

Yes I am well aware that I am not the most fashionable person and really shouldn't be handing out opinions, but even I know...the gray looks AWFUL!

Why the heck are they wearing these gray jackets and black pants?!?! They don't need to be wearing something vomiting red, white, and blue, but it would be nice to better visually identify the athletes country! REPRESENT!!

All other countries have more vibrant uniforms that I can immediately identify with their country. All we have is a team USA patch...

AND THEN...it gets worse.
There is a different design for outdoor events for our Olympians.

why?!?!?

If there is one color that says "America" it's burnt orange? I guess the University of Texas fans would say so, but EHHH...

What do you guys think?

  1. BAHAHA! I never thought about that, but you are right- the grey and burnt orange look awful! I think they need a nice royal blue jacket that would definitely identify them as USA without being too annoying about it. Just found your blog and have loved getting to know you better. I'm excited to follow along!

  2. totally agree--there needs to be some USA spirit! maybe they've been doing different colors in order to stand out a bit more? I sometimes feel like red/white/blue are common flag colors, so if they do decide on full red, white and blue they may risk blending in...? haha I'm obviously not an Olympics expert.

I'm also a new follower! nice to meet you!

  3. Completely agree! The grey does look awful. I am from Trinidad and when I saw the group of guys collecting their medals, I didn't immediately recognize Team USA.

Those guys! OMG...their bodies are HOT!! HAHA

  4. Lol cracking about the fashion! I've been thinking the same thing from the beginning when opening ceremonies...did you see they're weird outfits for that? They were rocking there's awkward hats and those disgusting white shoes.

  5. LOL. I love this post. I so didn't see it going there... :) I completely agree with you. The fashion this year is not good. And of course, the gymnasts are bringing scrunchies back as always. ;)

    1. haha what can I say? I am a crazy woman with these posts! I was so saddened when the African American community was getting all upset with Gabby's hair looking "messy"//seriously thought it looked fine and she is super amazing and that is what people should be focusing on. :-)

  6. That is so cool that you were a competitive swimmer! I am so envious of people who can swim like that! Compared to you, I probably look like I'm drowning, hehe.

    Go USA!

  10. I totally get you about going back to your passions, girl...I know there are few things I would like to go back doing again...there was so much joy behind doing them...
But no judging on my life...I sooooo disagree about the jackets...I LOVE the USA jackets...I actually JUST took a pic over the weekend in one of them at the NIKE Store in Vegas and I THOUGHT I looked SUPER cute!!!...LOL!!...Boo on my life, right??...but here's the kicker: WHY is that jacket $450.00?!?!?...crazy right?!?!...especially for something so "AWFUL"...LOL!...Well, I guess that's FASHION for ya.

    Be Blessed, Lauren
